Welcome to the New Frontier

Freeland is a project that I have been at work on for several years at this point, both writing and illustrating conceptually. As a whole, it is a fantasy world that is heavily steeped in American culture and folklore, including that which exists among the various indigenous tribes of North America. Freeland: New Unity, in particular, is a role-playing game that coincides with the lore I have written for this world. Below are just a few of the pieces I have created in developing this world.

The Illustrated Mason's Journal

The Illustrated Mason's Journal is a political magazine/newspaper published in the city-state of Centurion, one of several concentrated areas of population on the continent of Freeland. The publication began on the date of Yinas, Loe'en 7, 1965 (the Gregorian equivalent/translation would be Saturday, February 7, 1965), as the city's industrial growth had facilitated the existence of a more sophisticated source of news than the town criers of yesteryear.

Though it is still a fairly young project as time pertains to the world of Freeland, it has become the preferred periodical among the well-to-do of the city for its prioritization of objective information, its descriptive quality, and the supplementary, detailed illustrative work printed alongside the stories (these are mostly done in-house, though the publication will sometimes outsource the work to a third party if they are strapped for time).

This particular issue, dated 1976, takes place a little over one-hundred years after the events of Freeland: New Unity, where Armada Faith (the "truest" representation of the player character), has become the new Sovereign of Centurion due to her rise to prominence and commitment to the good of the people following her involvement in the War of Deliverance, where the Freelandic colonies formed a temporary alliance in order to declare independence from the Hrenish Ascendancy having shared grievances against it.

Other characters I have previously established for Freeland: New Unity are present here as well, each one now exhibiting the qualities they grew to uphold due to the support they received from Armada in working through their own personal strives (Though these are their "truest" outcomes, the player character can resolve issues in different ways to reach entirely different outcomes, some being less savory than others).
